Action Man!

Talking about accessories, when it comes to Action Man nothing was spared, this guy has done just about everything from sports to the military and has the very detailed gear to prove it.  One of the joys of collecting Action Man is you can display him in completely different outfits from a British Beefeater to a Canadian Mountie. The effect can be stricking!

The vintage Action Man ceased in 1984 but Action Man was brought back to life by Hasbro in 1993, a larger bodied, muscular fighting machine. He was transformed again in 2006 to Alpha Teens on Machines.

A variety of modern Action Men

The British counterpart to GI Joe originally  appeared in 1966 after toy company Palitoy secured the license from Hasbro.  The original Action Man figures were made using the same moulds as those used by Hasbro so they are virtually identical to GI Joes from that era.  Shortly after Palitoy designed him with unique details that made him distinctively different. The first Action Men had painted heads with the fuzzy, flocked hair styles coming out around 1970. The more interesting figures even have flocked beards!

Many versions were released with different body styles and hand grips, one of the most famous is the 1978 Action Man with Eagle Eyes that could be moved from side to side and gripping hands that could hold his accessories.
