Released by Kenner in
1977 and continuing until 1981, Darci was a fashion model who came with
a booklet, stand and monogrammed, white vinyl portfolio which
contained three magazine covers featuring Darci. Her hair came in blonde,
redhead or brunette and she had a range of fashions and even a perfume. She
had two friends, an African American called Dana and the green eyed, auburn
haired Erica. Cover Girl Darci’s fashion was a swimsuit with a long matching
skirt, bracelets, high-heeled sandals, and a flower necklace which came in
either white, pink or blue. The truly
fascinating thing to me about this doll is the very obvious relationship she
has with
Jem. The body
is almost identical and the face moulds
for Darci, Dana and Erica were used in
Jem dolls and characters. |
