Aaahh Real Monsters!

Aaahh Real Monsters started in 1994 and quickly became one of the cult favourite cartoon series of that time. It is no longer being made but can still be seen in Australia as repeats on the ABC and pay TV channels quite often. The characters in the cartoon are really wonderful, very colourful and imaginative, the main ones are Ickis, Krumm, Oblina and the Gromble but there is a wide variety of interesting cast members.
It is set in a secret monster world under a rubbish dump where young monsters learn the art of monstering at a Monster Academy run by the rather dominating Gromble. Monster's Inc. seemed to be inspired by this.

The Gromble

Son of the academy's past top student Slickis. Just wants everyone to like him. He's too cute to scare anyone (often gets called a bunny rabbit when he tries) unless he uses his secret weapon, the ability to grow huge with red eyes and long, sharp fangs!

A scaring failure until he discovered his hideous underarm stench with dense armpit hair to match. Has detached eyeballs that he carries in his hands and can throw to see hidden things.
A big, strong, friendly type of guy with a great laugh.

The academy's current top student. She loves to scare and has the ability to change into lots of hideous things.
Her long candy cane type body also makes her useful as props like sticks, snakes and umbrellas. Has an awful snobby voice and attitude.

Head lecturer at the Monster Academy.
An accomplished scarer, he has a taste for red, pump style ladies shoes.
He loves terrifying his pupils by yelling and snorting them out of his long nose, after swallowing them
first of course.
