Supersize Dolls of the 1970's!    Since 1959 Barbie had been setting the approximate height size for modern teenage fashion dolls then, in the early 1970's, doll manufacturers started releasing dolls in a taller, more magnificent size and the 18 inch teenage fashion doll was the rage.  Usually a 12 inch version was released first and if she proved popular she got a big sister, sometimes with a different name but essentially the same doll. By 1980 unfortunately the novelty had worn off and the supersize dolls ceased to be released apart from a  few dolls created for Disney characters.
